"I was kind of scared the first time I used my VacMounts. I pictured my Penn rod and reels flying off my car at highway speeds. Well, I followed the instructions. I cleaned the roof of my car till it was very smooth then positioned the VacMounts and actuated the lever. I made sure that the seal was good and tried to lift them off just to make sure . . . when I felt that it was going to hold very well I strapped on the 3 rod and reel combos and went on my merry way. I wasn't sure how fast I could go . . . it's safe to say that the VacMounts will hold!!! Considering you follow the proper mounting procedures you have nothing to worry about except getting pulled over for speeding! I love them. Now I can carry extra rods for me and my friends whenever we go fishing because of the VacMounts. Also the room in the car is no longer compromised!
